When you’re on a juice fast, the last thing you’re probably going to think about is drinking lots of water. You’re already filling up on so much liquid, and your body will naturally get water from the fruits and vetetables you’re drinking. It may start to seem like too much. But it’s still important to drink lots of water. Here’s why:Juicing cleanses out and detoxifies the body. Think of it like it’s dislodging all those toxins that have been stored away for a while. So as the body releases all those toxins, we want to do everything we can to help flush them out of our system so they don’t stick around because believe me, you’ll start to feel it.
So while on a full juice fast, in addition to my six juices a day, I will drink a total of about 64 oz of water, sometimes more. Or to mix things up, I’ll drink coconut water instead, because it contains so many electrolytes and has an alkalizing effect on the body.
If you don’t already drink lots of water, it may take you a couple of days to get used to this. But the key is to train yourself to keep drinking. You’ll feel so much better if you do and you’ll be less likely to experience any groggy side effects from your juice fast.
Here’s to your health!
