I wanted to share something with you that I heard the Holy Spirit whisper to me just the other day and it has something to do with a new move we need to be watching for. A move of the Holy Spirit that is going to sweep through the world and it’s going to start with… photographers. But that’s only where it’s going to start.
Now that I’ve moved to NC, I see photographers everywhere. Which is completely understandable, as there is so much beautiful scenery to be captured here. The photographers are usually the ones that do the “watching”, waiting patiently to capture the perfect shot. But the other day, I found myself “watching the watcher.” And it was then that I felt the Holy Spirit say, “Keep watching…because those who are gifted in photography – I have gifted them first and foremost to “see”. ” And of course, I know He meant, to see in the spirit.
As I continued to tune in, I felt the Holy Spirit impress upon me that a fresh, new wave of photography is about to come. And it’s going to come quickly, like a wave of water. Keep in mind water is refreshing. The images we are about to behold will be stunning in beauty and I believe they will capture the essence of Romans 1:20 in a brand new way:
“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20 NLT
What is going to make this so powerful is that with this new wave, God is going to pour out revelation that will accompany the photographic images we will begin to see. God is going to meet these brilliantly talented people at the place of their gift and He is going to open their spiritual eyes in a new way. There is going to be profound meaning and revelation behind the images that are captured. And let me be clear: this will be a Matthew 5:45 kind of wave that will wash over believers and non-believers alike. In other words, this is not just for those who know Him. For “He rains on the just and the unjust.” And He yearns for the hearts of those He has created to know Him and to see Him. This is love, pursuing them where they’re at, and redeeming their gift.
At first, the move of God will begin in the hearts of those capturing the images as they encounter the presence of God. Their photography will be an encounter. And what they experience, as God reveals Himself to them, will then spill over, as they are so moved by what they see, what they capture, and what they experience. They will literally not be able to contain the glory of what has been revealed to them.
When this begins to happen, watch. A new level of “seeing” in the Spirit is going to be released – even beyond the realm of photographers. What will happen amongst them is a move of God, yes, but it will also serve as a sign of a larger “grace to see” that He will pour out.
So what to do?
Well, as a result of this, you may notice a draw or a new level of desire increase towards photography. If you are a photographer or have dabbled with it some in the past, but maybe your camera has been collecting dust somewhere, now would be a good time to dust it off and light a match to your curiosity once again.
Secondly, I would say pay attention to that same desire or interest sparking in others and make room for it. Especially in children, teens, and young adults – both those who have been placed in your care, and others. I sense a fostering spirit released in this move as well.
Do what you can to expose yourself and others to nature, both during the day and at night. (Obviously, I’m not at all advocating a negligence of safety. But I am saying that revelation will also be poured out through the night sky, the moon and the stars.)
Pray to have eyes to see – both for yourself, and others gifted in this area.
If you are gifted in photography and have been operating in it, now is the time to teach others what you know. Mentorship would be a great idea.
I would also say, position yourself to “watch the watchers”, and encourage them in their gift. Many are afraid to branch out into new territory, so they’ve been playing it safe. But they are so close to breakthrough. All they need is a little bit of encouragement because there is already grace enough being poured out to break through the barriers that have contained them.
And lastly, I would say listen to them and value them – maybe more than you have before. Make time to hear what they have to say about what they’re seeing. As their vision becomes clearer, you will know that the channels of communication are opening up and the move of God can flow through them.
The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies promote and display His craftsmanship. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Through Him all things were made, and without Him was not anything made that was made. The mountains, the seas, the colors, the trees. The snow, the rain, the oceans, the waves. It all has it’s beginning and end in Him and is all part of His deliberate plan. And now, He will use them to draw His beloved. Oh what manner of love this is!
Waiting and watching with you,
Linda G Riddle
This word is amazing, inspiring and encouraging! It wasn’t until about a year and a half ago that I realized God wanted me to use the talent He had given me in photography for His glory. It’s my heart’s desire to show His love and light through the images He draws me to capture and for them to impact lives for the growth of His kingdom. Sometimes it’s the image by itself and other times it’s what I feel He leads me to say about it, either way I hope God’s spirit touches someone through it. Thank you for sharing this word! Incredible!
