Bible Studies

As you’ll probably notice, much of what I share on my site has to do with being led by the Spirit, and/or the revelatory ways of God. There is a very real spiritual world we are all part of, but I believe that our continued growth requires that we keep a few balances in check.

The Apostle Paul said it this way, “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.” (Philippians 1:9 NLT) Love obviously has to do with our hearts while knowledge and understanding has to do with our minds. In other words, healthy growth can be accomplished by giving equal attention to both maters of the heart and matters of the mind (knowledge and understanding). Our minds and hearts have to grow side by side so that we don’t become too “bent” towards one or the other. All mind without heart will not lead to health, but neither will all heart without knowledge and understanding.

In the same way, I believe there is a healthy balance that must be kept between matters of the Spirit and remaining grounded and rooted in His Word. In fact, one of the ways we test spiritual things is by holding them up against the Word of God to make sure they line up with His nature, His character and His truth. In order to do this, we have to keep growing in both – the things of the Spirit, and the Word. Giving greater emphasis to one at the expense of the other can easily misdirect us and cause us to misdirect others.

With this in mind, I thought to open up some of my personal studies that I’ve done and share them on my site. Now, by no means have I attained a full measure of knowledge and understanding. I’m too am on the journey of learning. But I have discovered some pretty great things that have transformed me so far, and I share those here, while continuing to press on to know more.

Wherever you are in the journey yourself, I celebrate that with you, and I’m sure I could learn a few things from you as well. As a fellow follower of Christ, a believer that His word is infallible and stands true, here’s to our continued pursuit of this incredible living, loving God. May we press on together, and lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of us.

Current Bible Studies:

80 Days Through The Gospels A chronological study of the Gospels. In this study, we will travel through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, side by side, reading through them in the order in which the events recorded took place. This study includes a reading plan as well as my personal study notes.

The Book of Acts A great follow up to the 80 Days Through The Gospels study. Jesus’ life and ministry was not just limited to what He taught, or what He preached. His life and ministry was also marked by His Acts – by what He did. Throughout the Gospels, we see Him operating in everything He was anointed to operate in. The Book of Acts is essentially the story of disciples receiving what Jesus received in order to do what Jesus did.

(I apologize these studies are not in an easier to read format. In the future I hope to convert these to a PDF or an online book. But for now, they are written as individual blog posts, grouped together by title.
