3 Benefits of Juicing

In my posts, I often share some of the benefits I’ve personally experienced from juicing. But today, I’ve asked guest blogger, Nutritionist Yemila Lowry, to share her top three reasons juicing is so good for our health. Here’s what she had to say:

We all know that the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables are endless. But did you know that juicing provides almost the same amount of nutrients and benefits as if you were to consume whole fruits and vegetables?

Here are my top three reasons why juicing is so valuable to us:

  1. It provides a boost of long lasting energy.  Fruits and veggies have a plethora of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Our bodies naturally crave for these and when you supplement your body with a juice, you’re giving your body’s cells the nutrients they need to survive. When your body realizes that you’re constantly feeding it these yummy nutrients then it stores what it doesn’t need at that moment, giving you lasting energy!
  2. It’s a concentrated amount of vitamins and minerals. When juicing, you are stripping away the skin, seeds, pits, and fibrous insides, and what is left is the concentrated amount of nutrients, such as a multivitamin!
  3. It’s an easy way to get your daily intake of fruits and vegetables. The recommended amount of an individual’s intake is 5 servings of fruits and 5 servings of vegetables, EVERYDAY. The average American may consume less than 2 per day. Depending what’s in your recipe, juicing can easily offer you the recommended amount in just 1-2 glasses!

A word of caution, however, with any type of change in your diet, you should always advise your doctor and nutritionist/dietitian. Many medical professionals would agree that a juice fast is not recommended for individuals with diabetes or pregnant women.
