2017: A Year of Recompense Part 3

In the original post of this series, I shared an overview of what I believe the Lord is saying for 2017. If you’ve not read that yet, please do so because it lays the groundwork for all the subsequent posts in this series. As part of that word, I shared that I believe the Lord is bringing recompense for His people in 3 key areas. Earlier this week I shared the first of those three, and today, I’d like to continue with the second area:

#2.) God is bringing a recompense and/or settlement in areas that have cost us.

“…anyone who sacrifices home, family, fields—whatever—because of me will get it all back a hundred times over, not to mention the considerable bonus of eternal life.” Jesus said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, there is no one who has given up a house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, who will not receive a hundred times as much now in the present age—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms—along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Matthew 19:29 MSG Mark 10:29 AMP Luke 18:29-30 NKJV

This next area of recompense will be focused on those who in the past, have stepped out in faith, and/or obedience to the Lord – and it cost you, personally. I’m speaking to those who at some point in your life (perhaps multiple times) have left behind some of the most meaningful relationships, cities, homes, jobs, assignments, all that was familiar to you in order to follow God. To follow what He had for you. To follow what He was calling you to or to pursue whatever assignment He was giving you. In faith – you left behind whatever was familiar for the unknown.

It is to you, I bring with great joy these verses I’ve included above in Matthew, Mark and Luke. Notice that for anyone to whom it has cost something, the economy of heaven states that you will receive a hundred fold in this age and in the age to come, eternal life. There are blessings in store for you – both in the now and in eternity.

I know you didn’t do it expecting anything in return. No, to you, it would be better to be wherever the Lord wanted you than anywhere else. He knows that. But God will not be outdone, and the justice of God is about to bring those scales into balance. Remember, recompense is not about us “getting paid”. It’s about God being fully justified to release more into our hands for the purpose of glorifying Him to a greater degree! What will be released to you will be uniquely tied to advancing the purpose for which you were created.

Perhaps you’ve already seen blessings poured out on your life as a result of that leap of faith and/or obedience. Great! But just know – it’s about to get even better! This year specifically, there will be an accelerated return that comes back to you in recompense for what you have left behind.

Yes, we will see this manifest itself to a degree in the natural. Those blessings are also good and to be enjoyed. However, when you see that starting to happen, remember that what we see in the natural are signs that point to a greater spiritual reality. The greater focus of this recompense will be on a spiritual inheritance that has been gaining interest over time. You’re going to start experiencing things “clicking into place“. And with that, will come greater clarity; greater spiritual power; greater understanding; greater insight; greater joy. And ultimately greater anointing to do what you were made to do.

What part do we play in this? This one’s quite simple. First, if this bears witness in your heart, believe what He has said. Believe these Scriptures and the promises in them are true. Reject a false humility that says, “Oh, no, I’d never want anything back from God.” But instead, receive it with open arms and an open heart that says, “Whatever You have for me, God, I receive it! I give you praise for it – now even, in advance. And may Your name be greatly glorified in doing so.”

Secondly, don’t work for it – don’t fight for it – watch for Him to bring it and then receive it gladly. I once heard that there are times when the “kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force.” But then there are times when we must “receive the kingdom as little children.” In warfare, God allows us to exercise our spiritual authority so that we know what we are capable of, in Him. But in receiving the things of the kingdom as children, He confirms our identity as His kids, and of Him, as our loving Father. Let Him bring it to you, just be on the lookout for it, because it may come in unexpected ways and in unexpected packages.

May all this and more be yours,

Linda G Riddle
