In their simplest form, keys represent having access and authority. Having the right key allows us to close and lock or open and unlock places, problems, or solutions that can only be accessed a particular way. Every lock has a specific key that opens it.
Usually when keys show up in our dreams, it indicates an area we are accessing or wanting to access, but we will need the experience, understanding, or knowledge to unlock whatever is closed to us. Sometimes, we have the keys we need. Other times, we lose our keys or are searching for the keys we once had. This means there might be something new we need to learn, or we must learn how to apply what we already know in a different way.
In Matthew 16:19 Jesus said, “I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.” (AMP) The only way we operate with the keys of the kingdom is through knowing God personally, and through having an understanding of His ways and how the kingdom works.
Ultimately, remember that God wants to help us. He knows what dilemmas we are facing and He has all the answers (and keys) we could ever possibly need.
